The Chinese Government Scholarship- Sino-Africa Friendship Program 2019 aims to realize the commitment of Chairman Xi Jinping to “provide 50,000 Chinese Government Scholarships for Africa” in the opening speech of the 2018 Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, to cultivate industry-strapped talents, cultivate outstanding skilled talents and high-level talents for African countries, and provide the talent support for China and African countries in the implementation of the “eight major initiatives”. 2019 Chinese Government Scholarship- Sino-Africa Friendship Program aims to support the development of high quality education in Africa, train quality teachers, improve basic education, and promote sustainable development in Africa.

Eligibility of Applicants

For Master and PhD Candidates:

1. All applicants must obey Chinese laws and regulations, the rules and regulations set forth by NPU, respect Chinese customs, enjoy the knowledge of Chinese culture, and adopt a friendly attitude towards China.

2. Foreign citizens should hold passports from African countries; be in good physical and mental health.

3. Certificate of Chinese/English proficiency:

 Chinese Requirement: Minimum HSK level 4 or equivalent certificate; or native speaker. For applicants, who choose the Chinese-medium courses but have the HSK 4 level below 180 points, need to study Chinese for a year.

 English Requirement: Minimum TOFEL: 70, IELTS: 5.5 or equivalent certificate; or native speaker.

4. Master’s candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree and should not exceed 35 years old at the time of application. PhD candidates must have a Master’s Degree and should not exceed 40 years old at the time of application.

5. All applicants should have graduated from a nationally prestigious university (within a respected comprehensive list or the student’s major at university should be within national top 10 of universities within their country.) with excellent academic performance.

6. All applicants should hold outstanding achievements in their field of work or study, or the applicants should show great research potential.

1. Academic transcripts.

2. Notarized highest diploma (Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations).

3. Two Recommendation Letters from two professors or associate professors for applying for Master’s or PhD degree.

4. A study plan (not less than 800 words for Master’s degree applicants; not less than 1500 words for doctor’s degree applicants).

5. Certificate of English or Chinese proficiency.

6. A copy of valid passport.

7. Completed physical Examination form.

8. Non-criminal Record.

Scholarship standard

2019 Chinese Government Scholarship- Sino-Africa Friendship Program standard will be implemented in accordance with the current Chinese government scholarship standards, and no special funding standards will be set. The 2019 Chinese Government Scholarship- Sino-Africa Friendship Program is a full scholarship. For the full prize winners, tuition, accommodation and insurance fees are waived. In addition, they are entitled to a monthly allowance:

3,000 RMB / month for Master’s candidates.

3,500 RMB / month for PhD candidates.

Step1 – Complete the online application on the following web page and pay the application fee online or transfer

Application fee: $100 USD or ￥600 RMB

Step2 – A committee will be organized to evaluate documents of applicants; applicant’s documents will be selected for further review by the relevant academic schools.

Step3 – Applicants will be notified for an interview by email.

Step4 – Send Admission Notice and other relevant documents. The registration deadline is 15th September 2019 (See the admission notice). Failure to register within the time limit without the permission of the registration office of International College, you will have forfeiture admission into this university.
