About Apsaco Talks
In the context of the Covid-19 crisis, Policy Center for the New South organizes a special online 4th edition of its Annual Conference on Peace and Security in Africa (APSACO), on September 23 to 25. Named APSACO Talks for the occasion, this series of short webinars (60 minutes) will deal with the Covid-19 crisis and security in Africa, with high-level experts.
Covid-19 and security in Africa
Inter-community violence in some countries could be exacerbated by the economic repercussions of the Covid-19 crisis and its impact on food security. In addition, attacks by armed groups, militias and terrorist organizations have not ceased. On the contrary, they have plunged Burkina Faso, Mali and Somalia into critical situations. The APSACO Talks will also evolve around the consequences of the borders closure and travel bans on security, and the measurement tools of peace in Africa.
