Cadi Ayyad University (UCA) established the honorary title of "UCA Professor-Emeritus" through Decision No. 01/2018, issued by the University Council meeting on March 9, 2018. The aim is to recognize and honor retired faculty members who have maintained significant productive potential. This distinction is intended to formalize the continuation of their commitment to the development of knowledge, scientific research, and the enhancement of the university's reputation and reach.

The first conferral of the "UCA Professor-Emeritus" title took place on July 19, 2021, for a duration of 3 years. Given the large number of faculty retirements at UCA, the increasing demand for the title, and following an evaluation of the initial experience, the University Council, meeting on November 28, 2024, proceeded to revise the conditions and improve the regulatory mechanisms for awarding the honorary title of "UCA Professor-Emeritus."
