Historic Honor for Moroccan Radiologist at ECR 2026

Professor Najat Cherif Idrissi El Ganouni, a faculty member at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of Marrakech, Cadi Ayyad University, has been recognized at the prestigious European Congress of Radiology 2026, held in Vienna. She was appointed an Honorary Member of the European Society of Radiology, an international distinction awarded to individuals who have made exceptional scientific and academic contributions to the field of medical imaging.

This recognition represents a historic milestone as the first Moroccan radiologist to receive such an honor, highlighting a major achievement for Moroccan radiology on the global scientific stage. It underscores Professor Cherif Idrissi El Ganouni’s outstanding academic and research career, as well as her steadfast commitment to advancing medical education, scientific research, and international collaboration.

A leading authority in radiology, Professor Cherif Idrissi El Ganouni also serves as President of the Moroccan Society of Radiology. Over the course of her career, she has held numerous prominent academic and hospital leadership positions in Marrakech, including Director of the Radiology Department at Razi Hospital, part of the Mohammed VI University Hospital Center. She has played a pivotal role in training medical imaging specialists and actively contributes to professional and scientific networks across Africa, the Arab world, and internationally.

This distinction not only reflects the academic and scientific excellence of Cadi Ayyad University’s faculty but also highlights the growing prominence of Moroccan expertise within leading international scientific forums.
